Hmm, that actualy doesn't look as bad as I assumed it would.

Wouldn't oppose having the current favor system changed to somthing simmilar, although I have no issues with the current system.

While I'm not really bothered with the current system, the concept proposed by Jessyi does seem like a better way to fight over favor rather than "5 consecutive wins or nothing" method.

As I have already stated, the favor system is in place the way it is so that no one region can have favor for a measily 12 minutes. If the system you propose is put in place, favor would be going back and forth every 12 minutes, and imagine how frustrating it would be to spend 10 minutes putting a good group together for FoW, then losing favor to one loss.

But then you would only need to wait a measly 12 minutes to gain favor again. As it stands now, you could start creating a group when you hold the favor, only to watch Europe win their 5th in a row. Now your group waits for 3 hours to get it back instead of 12 minutes.

Yeah, I already addressed the 12 minute wait thing. People already follow the win streak in anticipation of the favor change, and as xarchitect pointed out your logic is working against your arguement just as much as it supports it...so...

Besides, I think I'd vastly prefer favor switches every 12 minutes (an unlikely scenario anyways) over every 12 hours. My idea certainly won't make the favor problem worse. I think I can say at least that much with certainty.

As opposed to the system now where you can go a whole day...in fact, you TYPICALLY go through a whole day without favor. Yes, I can see how that would be LESS frustrating than what I've proposed...

Well - I stuck this in the other thread - but ist near the end - in general people from both sides have given positive feed back - and i continue posting it each month in the various suggestion threads so:

Quote:
Anet has already stated they are looking into alternate access methods. I pitched this on another forum and got fairly positive response from pvp and pve players a like so I’ll throw it out here as well.

The current system “and just go win it” attitude is unrealistic because you are asking players who enjoy PvE to compete at the highest levels in PvP in order to then go play the high end content. Frankly a PvE will spend 5 min in the HA lobby and realize they have nothing in common with many PvP players, an elitist attitude toward them, and have most of their stereotypes about PvP reinforced leading to little hope of any real success. With out hope – the player is not coming back or going to continue to try for very long.

The Idea: Charge 1,000 Balthazar faction points per player when out of favor to enter UW/FoW

The reasoning:
1) Anet wants cross over play - this would encourage it at lower PvP talent levels where PvE players could find some degree of success. It provides them pvp exposure in a setting with less preasure where they are more likely to be encouraged to try other game types. It wouldn’t require hard core pvp play from a pve player (which isn’t going to happen) and makes PvP rewards have some usefulness for a PvE player.

2) My idea addresses the issue in that it puts access in the hands of a player. I think that is the key. Right now most pve players have zero input into who has favor and even if they wanted too would have to practice and play for months to even get close to good enough. Realistically this just isn’t going to happen. Bal Faction puts the power in the players hands. There are several places to gain the faction in PvP at various levels of skills that don’t require players to jump in and beat the best in the world to get something.

3) What this is NOT is a call for unlimited access to these areas. It would still need to be earned. Just in a way the average player could influence and participate in. Favor would still matter as and be something to be earned and be proud of. Current Favor access of 1000 gold per team would stay in place.

4) This would at best allow someone 10 out of favor trips before need them to play pvp or wait for favor to gain access. This means that it won't create a farming stampede any more so than already exisits and may lead players to try out more facets of the game.

Not a bad idea. I'd much rather have a pure-PVE way to earn access, but that suggestion is still worlds better than the current system.

I doubt you ever will. Anet's vision seems to be one of a single game made of of two parts. I get teh impression they don't want pure pve or pvp play. My idea is one of making somethign that is acheiveable by an average player and may actually ecourage people to at least try pvp more often. HoH makes most PvE playeers run screaming and reinforces every negative stero type they ever heard about pvp in about 2 min.

Anyone that dislikes favor but doesn't want to see faster unlocks is a dirty hypocrite. I support any kind of gamer being able to play the part of the game they'd like to, whenever they want to. That's called having fun.

Hmm, as for Trin Storm's idea, that sounds very good to me. Perhaps make it 2000-3000 faction though, as it doesn't take long to earn 1000 if you're good at PvP this is to discourage PvPers from solo farming UW anytime they wanted so they can buy their PvE charactars stuff for PvP, and I think it still leaves the bar low enough for PvE palyers to earn entry without much of a problem.

Another reason I like the idea is it gives people with all unlocks somthing to do with their faction points, instead of sitting at 10000 till they have somthing to unlock again. Not to mention it encourages more crossover play, at least at lower levels.

QUOTED...FOR...TRUTH. (Nice little FU to all those "go win HA urslef" knobs)

Has this like, not occured to anybody before? HA is intimidating. Even if you ARE experienced it always feels like you're walking through a minefield. If you fart or cough both YOUR team and the OTHER team will be screaming at you, calling you an effin' n0000b! I could repeatedly slam my fingers in the door and have more fun. If you don't have a PvP guild and HA pugs are your only other alternative (and IWAY pugs at that) then it should be in no way surprising that people are frustrated with the control of favor being kept somewhere at the core of that horrible mess.

So if you're in a PvE guild, or a guild of friends, etc. then I guess you have these options: Go with your guild and lose. Or, make a balanced team with pugs and get screamed at by your own team when you lose. Or, make an IWAY team with pugs and get screamed at by both your team and the opposing team when you lose (except with IWAY there's a marginal possibility that you will win, making it the only consistent way to gain fame without wasting hours of time and driving yourself to suicide).

The quality of the attitudes of 98% of all people in HA is so mindnumbingly horrible that it's a wonder that these people have lived as long as they have without murdering thier irl friends and family. There's no respect, no courtesy, no patience, nothing - only ragequitters waiting to happen. I don't know what level of douchbaggery I'd have to get to to feel that I have the right to act like such a complete asshole to random people in game just because it's not a real life scenario...but I bet it would be a low low level indeed.

Ok, tangent over! I'm done ranting in my own thread. Raaawwwr!
